  FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 

1) How do I sign up for personal training?
First, you'll need to fill out the registration form which gives us a basic understanding of your health history. You may in full and get a free sweatshirt or pay 2 or three installments. After you've filled out the registration form and your payment has been submitted, you will be contacted by Operations Manager Caroline Rostad to book your health screening appointment.  After this screening, you and your personal trainer will select a schedule that works best for the both of you.

2) What kind of people participate in personal training?
Personal training is usually best suited for those who want private workouts.  Personal training is great for 9 to 5ers' who need to release stress, mom's that want to lose baby fat, busy professionals who want to get focused, business owners w
ho need a boost, actors who need to drop weight for a movie role, College/High School/Jr. High students who need to get back on the right track as well as conditioned athletes who want to step it up a notch.

3) Do you have to be in good shape first?

No. In order to determine your level of fitness and your limits (if any), you will receive a Health Screening. You will not be asked to complete more than you are capable of doing safely.

4) What type of exercises will I be doing?
Resistance training and cardiovascular exercise such as Running (short distances), Push-ups, Sprints, Lunges, Team-building events, Jumping Jacks, Jump rope, Kickboxing, Yoga, Mat work, Stability Ball/Medicine Ball training, Stretching, Cone drills and whatever else it takes to distract you from the fact that you're getting a great workout!

5) What happens after I complete my first package of training sessions?

You will be measured, photographed and tested to show your progress and success. You may stop here or continue training with your personal trainer or even switch over to the Boot Camp program.

6) What do I need to wear to peronal training?
If training outdoors, you should wear layers of comfortable, athletic clothing appropriate for the time of the year. If training indoors, then normal athletic clothing is fine. You should also invest in a good pair of running shoes. All Fitness Edge Clients get a discount at Runners Lane in Santa Clarita - ask us for details.  The right shoe will make the difference in loving or hating the running experience. Please leave all jewelry and other valuables at home.

7) Will I have a male or female trainer?

It's up to you - we both have male and female certified personal trainers ready to get you into the best shape of your life. 

8) Will I be trained in nutrition?

If you are training with Commander Broughton, the nutritional counseling and life coaching is included.  If training with any other personal trainer - we can provide a nutritional counseling program along with your training sessions for a small additional fee .  Or, you may join the Fitness Edge Boot Camp and get the nutritional counseling program included in one low packaged rate.

9) Does your personal training program include life coaching/goal setting? If you are training with Commander Broughton, the life coaching is included. If you want a complete life coaching program - you may purchase private sessions with Karen Whiteley/certified Life Coach or join the Fitness Edge Boot Camp and take advantage of the Life coaching program that is included with your boot camp membership.

 

PERSONAL TRAINING DETAILS:

  • Workout “Sessions” last for at least 1 hour. 
  • Our Fitness Trainers can work out with you in your home, indoors at our private gym or outdoors at local parks.
  • Your trainer will let you know what equipment you'll need if any.
  • Sessions cover cardiovascular exercise, resistance training as well as mental focus techniques.
  • A comprehensive health screening is included with each training package.
  • If a session is cancelled in less than 24 hours -- you will be charged for that session.
  • Payment is due in full before starting.
  • No refunds - credit only.
  • Visa, Master Card, Checks and Cash are accepted.
  • If you would like add a nutritional counseling package (food journals/critiquing) – add $10.00 to each session. Must commit to whole length of training sessions. 
  • Fitness Edge Boot Camp Discount:  All current “Troopers” receive a 5% discount on the above rates!  (Does not apply to tag team training.)
  • All Fitness Edge Personal Training clients get 20% lifetime discount at Great Earth Vitamins.
